Bathroom Design Inspiration
I’m writing this post in the hopes it will help me figure out what to do with our upstairs bathroom. We sort of hastily decided to rip it out over the weekend, and are at a bit of a standstill trying to choose tile, paint color, and fixtures.
It was so hasty that I didn’t even have time to take a good “before” photo, but here’s a screenshot from a snapchat I took while it was happening.
Now, we’re down a bathroom and need to not be down a bathroom asap, so I really need to figure out what’s going to happen in there.
I have a few ideas.
The first is to go with sort of a pale-blue, gray and white theme, which is inspired by a few rolls of Graham & Brown wallpaper that I was planning to use in our bedroom, but didn’t. It’s beautiful and has been sitting under our bed since we moved in about two months ago. It’s a soothing, pretty paper that I think would be great in a bathroom. I just haven’t decided if I want it in my bathroom because it’s a little different, style-wise, than a lot of the other things in our house at the moment.
Here’s the wallpaper I currently have from Graham & Brown.
I’d imagine I’d pair this with a gray tile floor, maybe one in some sort of natural stone, and polished nickel fixtures a la these spaces:
The other thought I have is based on the bold (for me at least) direction we took in the bedroom by painting the wall behind our headboard black. I love the high-contrast look of black-and white, especially paired with gold fixtures. This bathroom popped up in my Instagram feed a couple of days ago and gave me some happy feels.
Finally, I’m considering just going with something simple and serene, since our condo probably won’t be our forever house, which means resale value is always at the back of my mind (yes, I’m thinking about resale value even though we just moved in). I’m thinking a white marble mosaic tile floor (something in a really small scale so there’s enough grout traction to make it slip-resistant, again with polished nickel fixtures. These spaces below just feel peaceful and timeless to me.
I think I should also mention that these are literally just inspiration images to help me decide on an overall look for our bathroom so we can start making some decisions. Sadly our budget probably won’t get us results as fabulous as all of these spaces above, but we’re going to try our best for a big improvement on the old space.
Advice/opinions/votes are welcome! I should have an update on it soon.
