Pure Parima Sheets Review: Worth the Money?
I’ve bought a lot of things on Amazon … but until recently, sheets weren’t one of those things. I’ve always assumed that a lot of the textiles I’d find on Amazon would be very basic quality, or made of polyester (I’m team cotton). However, then I came across a brand called Pure Parima, and the sheets looked, well, anything but basic.
I’m not gonna lie, it was the price of the sheets that first caught my eye. Pura Parima’s sheets start at around $100 per pair and can cost up to $350+ depending on the size and style, which, while expensive, also altered me to the fact that they were likely to be higher quality. I also noticed that all of their products are 100% certified Egyptian cotton.
So, I decided to give them a try. I ordered the Pure Parima Triple Lux Sateen Sheet Set, and after sleeping on them a few times now, here’s what I think.
Pure Parima Sheets: First Impression
When I first got the sheets, I could immediately tell this wasn’t some no-name Amazon brand. The sheets were packaged in a heavy box that was tied with a ribbon. Inside, there was information on how to care for the products and the manufacturing process.
When I took the sheets out of the box, they had that sateen, slippery feel, almost like silk. They were also so perfectly pressed that I almost didn’t want to wash them before putting them on my bed … but of course I did.
How they wash
When I took the sheets out of the wash, they felt softer and less silky than when I first took them out of the box, which I actually liked, because I’m not a fan of sheets that are super slippery (I generally buy percale sheets, which have a slightly more starched feel, if that makes sense). However, they were also pretty wrinkled. This tends to happen with cotton sheets, especially if you don’t take them out of the dryer right away.
After that first wash, I ended up steaming mine a bit, and the wrinkles softened considerably. You could also line-dry them, which helps with wrinkling. Or, you know, just make sure to take them out of the dryer as soon as they’re done, which is what I’ve started doing. While they definitely don’t look permanent pressed or anything, they end up less wrinkled if you take them out of the dryer right away.
Overall, I haven’t noticed any pilling or loose threads after washing them a few times, either.
Feel, Fit & Quality
As I mentioned, these sheets are sateen, which means that, for lack of better terms, they’re the shinier type of cotton sheet. Percale sheets are the crisper, more matte-looking sheet. Overall, this gives sateen sheets a silkier feel than your standard cotton sheet. I haven’t used sateen sheets before, but I’ve actually really liked them. They’re soft and smooth, but also cool to the touch and breathable, which is my favorite part about cotton sheets.
One other thing to note is that these sheets feel thicker than other cotton sheets I have. This is definitely an indicator of their quality, and it also makes them very well suited to fall/winter sleeping. I got mine in September, and they’re ideal, but I think I’ll prefer a lighter-weight version in the summer.
As far as fit goes, I have a king-size bed and these sheets fit generously. They also have really deep pockets, which is awesome because I have a 12″ thick mattress and a mattress topper, and the sheets cover the entire setup.
Style
One of the reasons I got these sheets, aside from the quality and material, is that I liked the style. These specific Pure Parima sheets have three lines embroidered across the top, which reminds me of, once again, fancy hotels. I always prefer simple, white bedding, and this is just enough of a flourish for me that they feel special and elevated, but also timeless.
Final Verdict
Overall, I love these sheets and think they’re definitely worth the more expensive price tag. I only buy sheets once every few years, so I try to buy high quality versions that will last. These definitely fit the bill!
