Are Gallery Walls Still in Style for 2025 & Beyond? Here’s the Answer

If you’re thinking about filling a blank wall with a bunch of art, you might be wondering if gallery walls are still in style or not, which is a valid question. While gallery walls have always been a popular way to hang art, they became a major trend in the early 2010s. Then, like all trends tend to do, they started to seem a bit stale, and the popularity of gallery walls started to wane a bit.

So what’s the status now? Are gallery walls stylish or not?

In my opinion, gallery walls are in style, and they always will be. It’s sort of like asking if white walls are in style. While white walls were so trendy they were almost the default in the late 2010s, the style now is all about moody, saturated wall colors. But white is a true classic, so it’ll never be out of style, even if it’s no longer the trendiest choice.

A gallery wall is simply a way to display art. I find that gallery walls bring a lot of personality to a room, and are a great way to fill a large wall or oddly-shaped space.

Plus, I have also been seeing a resurgence in their popularity again online. They collected style of a gallery wall is well-suited to the modern cottage and Nancy Meyers aesthetics that are everywhere right now. I’ve seen lots of oil-painting gallery walls, and vintage botanical gallery walls. However, they honestly work well for all styles. For a more modern space, you can create a minimalist gallery wall with frames that have large mats, arranged in neat rows.

Need more proof of just how timeless and beautiful gallery walls are? Here are a few of my favorites I’ve seen recently, plus one I’m working on in my own home.

I love this traditional stairway gallery wall by Anna Page. It mixes frames, art style, and shapes, but all goes together beautifully thanks to a common color palette.

Displaying black and white family photos in frames with varying metallic finishes feels personal, yet chic.

One of the best things about gallery walls is how customizable they are. For a more tailored look, you can use a set of matching frames and hang them in a grid style. I love this style of arrangement for more formal or contemporary spaces.

I found this photo on Pinterest, via the old Lonny Magazine website. I’m not sure how old this pic is, but has to be at least 5-10 years. But! I still think it looks fresh and relevant.

This stairway gallery wall is a slightly more masculine, vintage version of the one in the first photo, but again it just brings so much character to the space, especially against the white walls.

This gallery wall stood out to me for the mix of large scale and small scale art, as well as for the patterned matting, which just further illustrate how personalized you can tailor a gallery wall to your style.

The gallery wall I’m working on in my living room.

And finally, here’s the current gallery wall in my living room. Which, brings me to one of the greatest reasons I personally love a gallery wall and think they will always be in style: They’re very convenient. By that, I mean I already owned all of this art, and I had an empty space that needed a little something. So I hung it all up and it kind of just … works! I’ll probably edit it a bit and add to it over the next few months but for now, it’ll do.

How to Make a Gallery Wall Look Fresh for 2025 And Beyond

Even though the gallery wall look is timeless, there are a few specific gallery wall trends happening in 2025 and beyond. They are:

The Nancy Meyers Gallery Wall

This looks is collected yet cohesive, and I love it! Think, a mix of frame finishes and art types (photography, paintings, sketches), but a cohesive color palette that keeps everything feeling connected. See most of the photos above for inspo on this type of wall.

The Silver-Plated Gallery Wall

Silver finishes are coming back in a big way this year, and silver-toned gallery wall frames, particularly with black and white are inside, are a contemporary-chic way gallery wall idea.

The Non-Art Gallery Wall

Can you ever remember seeing so many plate walls outside of your grandma’s house before? I can’t. The plate wall is making a big comeback, as is incorporating plates, platters, and non-art items like plaques, antique barometers or even hats.

Why Gallery Walls Are Timeless
