Easy DIY Lemonade Stand for Kids + Printable Lemonade Stand Signs

My kids absolutely love to sell lemonade at the end of our driveway. They like it so much, in fact, that I have to limit them to one lemonade stand per week, so they don’t turn off their small customer base that includes the handful of neighbors who live on our street.

My tiny entrepreneurs

They have been selling lemonade for a few years now, and a couple of years ago I looked into buying them an actual lemonade stand they could use to make their setup more legit … and then realized it would be far cheaper (and more fun!) to just make one.

All it takes is some simple wooden crates you can find at most Michael’s or Home Depot Stores, a couple of pieces of scrap wood, and some paint. I actually had all of these things on hand already, which made this DIY a no-brainer, but purchasing them all new would be under $100. Here’s how to make your own.

Materials:

Directions:

Paint all 4 wood crates and furring strips, and paint or stain the plywood sheet. (I actually painted my crates after I attached them, as you can see from the photos, but that was definitely the hard way to do it — they had originally been painted green and I painted over them in white). I used both a roller and a paint brush to paint mine.

Once paint is dry, stack two wood crates together, each facing the opposite direction, and screw together. Repeat for the second set of crates.

Place crate stacks side-by-side, again facing opposite directions, and screw crates together to form the base of the lemonade stand.

Place plywood sheet on top of the base, and screw into the base at each corner.

Fasten the furring strip to the front corners of the lemonade stand, and attach with screws.

Next, add the screw eyes, which will be used to hold the lemonade bunting, at the top of the furring strips.

Finally, attach the bunting the eyes, and you’re good to go!

Well, almost. At one point my kids had asked for a pricing sign for their lemonade stand, so I made one on Canva that I print out and stick in a frame. The design is below if you want to save it and print for your own stand! I actually have two with two different prices depending on whether we make our own lemonade or use the kind from the box/jug!

And there you have it! We have had this little stand for three years now, and it’s held up great! Each year I get a new bunting, and this year I’ll probably have to refresh the paint, but otherwise, it’s still a summer staple in our house!
