10 Exact Behr Dupes for Benjamin Moore & Sherwin Williams Paint Colors
There’s not denying that Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams makes some of the most popular paint colors of all time. They’re the ones people recognize by name, like White Dove, Revere Pewter and Chantilly Lace.
At the same time, I personally don’t always default to using ‘designer’ paint. For one, a gallon of Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint is usually twice the cost of even the good-quality paints at big box stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s, and it’s hard to tell the difference between the two once they’re on the walls. Plus, brand-name paints are also harder to get your hands on, at least where I live. The specialty stores that sell designer paint are fewer and farther between than Home Depot. Sometimes, it’s just not worth the extra drive or extra money to use designer paint.

My go-to solution for getting designer paint colors at Home Depot has always been just color matching Behr paint to BM/SW colors. (More about paint matching here, if you haven’t done it before).BUT! I recently learned there’s another way you can get some of the most popular Benjamin Moore/Sherwin Williams colors from Home Depot.
So here’s a not-so-secret secret: Behr actually has a ‘designer’ collection of neutral paint colors that are ‘inspired by’ Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams colors. AKA, they’re near-perfect dupes.

I first discovered this at the Home Depot paint counter, actually, when I requested my paint be color-matched to Benjamin Moore Simply White. The staff member told me that, in lieu of getting my paint color-matched, I could also just use the ‘Behr version’ of Simply White, which is a color called ‘Natural White’ that promises to look nearly identical to Simply White. While I ended up going with the Simply White color match because I had already started the project, I took a look at the swatch wall and saw that Behr offers 10 designer dupe colors for BM and SW paints.
Here’s a list of the options…
Behr Designer Paint Color Dupes
Behr Paint Color | Designer Paint Color |
---|---|
Whipped Cream | BM Chantilly Lace |
Statement White | BM Decorator’s White |
Blank Canvas | BM White Dove |
Natural White | BM Simply White |
Vintage Pewter | BM Revere Pewter |
Winter White | SW Extra White |
First Snow | SW Snowbound |
Tranquil Gray | SW Agreeable Gray |
Gratifying Gray | SW Repose Gray |
Even Better Beige | SW Accessible Beige |
And a visual of the Behr paint colors vs. the originals. The Behr color is on the top, and the original is on the bottom. Admittedly, not all of these look like exact matches, but I also find that these digital paint swatches often look very different than the color on the wall. Still, a good visual to compare the colors.

I haven’t personally tried these designer colors yet, but it’s still a hack I wanted to share in case you hadn’t heard about it, and wanted to take the risk out of color-matching!
If you have tried it, I would love to hear about it in the comments section, below!
