The Best Throw Blankets of 2026—From Viral Picks to Top-Notch Dupes
I’ve always loved curling up on the sofa with a good throw blanket even in the middle of the summer. But, for many years of my life, I didn’t think too hard about my throw blankets. I figured they were all pretty much the same and would purchase whatever caught my eye at Homegoods.

Would you like to save this?
That was until my first son was born in 2016, and someone gifted me a Barefoot Dreams throw blanket. It was the single coziest blanket I’d ever used. Soft, stretchy, and not too heavy or hot. Since then, I’ve been a Barefoot Dreams devotee (and have found some very good dupes, too), but it also opened my eyes to all of the other viral throw blanket brands out there. Because all throw blankets are not created equally, and I’m always on the lookout for my new favorite.
That said, I’ve succumbed to the promises of a bunch of popular throw blankets over the last few years, and I have a definitive list of my favorites. Whether you’re looking to add one to your own collection or give one as a gift, these are, in my opinion, the best throw blankets you can buy.
The best throw blankets of 2026
Best Overall: Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Blanket

This is still my #1 throw blanket of all time, even though it’s not quite as trendy as it was five or 10 years ago. It’s the original viral throw blanket, and I think that’s for good reason. The Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic blanket is soft, stretchy, and cozy without being super hot. It just has a distinct feel that has become my whole family’s favorite.
The Cozy Chic blanket is also now one of my go-to gifts for literally any occasion—I’ve given it as a housewarming gift, birthday gift and as a gift to a friend who was grieving.
As great as it is, it does have a couple of drawbacks worth noting. The first is, it’s expensive, and likely overpriced for what it’s made out of (polyester microfiber). That said, I still find it a worthwhile purchase just because it’s that good. It also goes on sale fairly often so I’ve never paid full price for it. They’re sometimes up to 50% off, especially around holidays and on Nordstrom Rack!
The other thing to note about the Barefoot Dreams blankets (and all of its lookalikes, really), is that the blanket looks more casual on your sofa, so I wouldn’t consider this a decorative throw blanket. I keep mine in a basket next to the couch. It’s a pure comfort/functional purchase for me.
Best Barefoot Dreams Dupe: Quince Ultra Cozy Throw

Since Barefoot Dreams first launched their blanket there have been all sorts of dupes, and some i’ve tried are better than others, and the Quince version is one of the better ones.
Quince is known for making luxury products without the luxury price tags, and its Barefoot Dreams dupe is a pretty good testament to that mission. These blankets are almost identical, although the Quince blanket seems a touch thinner than the Barefoot Dreams blanket.
The plus side for Quince, too, is that it’s about half the price of Barefoot Dreams and it’s made from recycled polyester, which feels like a better value proposition overall.
Best Barefoot Dreams Amazon Dupe: Snuggle Sac Heather Throw Blanket

I have three of these blankets in my house right now, one for each of my kids, since they always fight over the Barefoot Dreams blanket.
They only cost about $30, but are noticeably more sparse than the Barefoot Dreams original (in that if you stretch it, there’s more space between the weave in the dupe), but if you’re looking for an inexpensive alternative, the feel is almost identical. I love these because my kids drag them all over the house, and I feel much better about them doing that with the $30 Amazon version vs. the $120+ Barefoot Dreams blanket.
Best Bubble Faux Fur Blanket: Bedsure Gentlesoft Bubble Faux Fur Blanket

Now, I can’t say I’ve tried the original bubble blanket, the Tikok-famous Lola blanket, because I haven’t been able to bring myself to shell out more than $200 for one. But, I did consider it, and while I was, I came across an article in The Guardian by a textile expert that pointed out some interesting things about the Lola. For one, that there wasn’t a ton of different between the original and its dupes, and it suggested one dupe in particular.

As the article explained, “The Bedsure Gentlesoft Bubble Faux Fur Blanket that I got for a head-to-head comparison is made from almost the exact same material. It measures about 750g per sq metre (GSM) versus 850, which means it’s slightly less dense. However, you start to get a diminishing return at more than 500 GSM, in my opinion, so the Bedsure is just as soft and warm, while costing less than half, and measuring about 10in longer. And because both blankets are made from polyester, they share a lot of the same properties, including resistance to shedding and staining (all polyester repels stains).”

So, after reading that, I went with the Bedsure version, and it’s pretty amazing. It’s ridiculously soft, and it has some weight to it which makes it extra cozy. It serves a different purpose than the Barefoot Dreams style blanket, too, in that it’s definitely not a year-round blanket. The Bedsure blanket it’s squarely a cold-weather, “it’s snowing outside and I’m watching football on the couch in front of a fire” blanket.
Best Heavy/Weighted Throw Blanket: Cozy Earth Channel Cuddle Blanket

So, this blanket isn’t marketed as a weighted blanket, but it might as well be one because it is heavy. When I first got it, I was unfolding it and thought it would open up one more time because it was so thick, but no. It’s a heavy duty, January evening in front of the fire blanket. My dream apres ski throw blanket.
Needless to say, this isn’t a year-round throw you grab when the AC is turned up a little too high in July. It’s definitely something you break out in the cooler months.
This blanket is also really beautiful and would be lovely as an accent draped on the end of a bed or ottoman.
