I’ve been looking for new nightstands for like 3

I’ve been looking for new nightstands for like 3 months and was about to buy a pair for $700 when I found a matching set with lots of potential at the Goodwill! They were in good shape but a little orange for my liking. So I stripped them, only to find out that they were made of multiple different wood types and they took stain differently. So, I ended up using multiple stains ( Jacobean, American Walnut, Espresso) to get an even-ish look. I cleaned and rub-n-buffed the hardware and saved myself enough money to justify a splurgey purchase that’s arriving in a few weeks!

Here’s the full prompt I used to help me figure out how to create a plate wall for this space. I ended up making some changes to the final arrangement but this was super helpful in picturing how it would look and deciding which plates to use!

I want to create a beautiful, balanced plate wall using plates I already own. I’ll upload photos of the wall or room, plus photos of the plates. Design a layout that works with the architecture of the space, rather than forcing a standard grid.
Consider the shape of the wall, windows, doors, furniture, light fixtures, trim, ceiling height, and any existing art or decor. Use the plates’ actual colors, sizes, shapes, and patterns when deciding placement. Create a layout that feels collected, fluid, and intentional — not overly symmetrical or random.
Tell me:
Which plates to use and which to leave out
Where each plate should go
How much spacing to leave between plates
Which plates should act as anchors
How to balance color, scale, and pattern across the wall
Any pieces that feel visually off or too busy
The goal is a plate wall that looks layered, cohesive, and designer-level, using what I already have.

Okay I was NOT expecting to love these as much as I do. 😭 I wanted pinch pleat curtains for my breakfast nook and before I went the custom route I took a chance on this $43 Amazon find — pinch pleat, comes with the hooks and rings, and … They look just as good as the much more expensive pair hanging in my bedroom.
